Services for wheelchair users
People in wheelchairs can easily participate in a tour. Please contact our booking line in advance to announce your visit, as we need two of our guides for a wheelchair tour. We ask the person in the wheelchair to transfer to a wheelchair provided by us before the tour. This way, we can guarantee that they will fit through all the doors in the exhibition without any problems and that the tour can proceed without incident. There is a 1.20 m section of the exhibition with a 15% incline. The floor coverings change throughout the exhibition to simulate different surfaces. Fixed seating is available for people with walking disabilities, which can be used during the tour. Electric wheelchairs are not permitted in the completely darkened exhibition, as no illuminated controls are allowed and navigation in the dark is carried out by a guide. A manual wheelchair is also available for hire for this purpose.
The museum is accessible at ground level via the B level.
An elevator from street level to the B level is located in Biebergasse between the jeweller’s ‘Wempel’ and the shoe shop ‘Geox’. The elevator has low control panels and the door opening is 89 cm wide.
